This Sunday we welcome the Rev. This week is Bluegrass Sunday!  Join us under the catalpa tree for a leisurely morning of worship and song.  We'll also continue our series on "Ways We Encounter God" with Rev. This Sunday we will worship under the Catalpa Tree and celebrate the beauty of diversity within our human family, especially the unique gifts and perspective that our LBGTQ+ siblings bring. It is also New Member Sunday! We have so much to celebrate!

We're celebrating our heritage this Sunday with well-loved hymns, scriptures about Wisdom, a special prayer and anthem for Father's Day, and a special guest, George Chein.  George grew up in this church during the 1940s and 1950s and his family members (the Ryders) were all strong leaders who shaped this faith community through much of the 20th century.  We'll hear some of George's many stories and also take a peak with the children at pictures of decades past at CUMC.  You won't want to miss this special Sunday!  Read ahead the scripture this week: Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-32 and  Romans 5:1-5. This week we honor Memorial Day by telling stories of peace.  "Tree of life" is a phrase used in our Revelation reading this week to symbolize what heals us when we are broken and living in discord.  We'll talk more about what this symbolism means and what other important trees have brought cultures together in their pursuit of peace during heavy times. The stories we will tell illustrate that when peace is complicated and illusive, we look for ways to make sense of it and contribute.  Today is no different.  Read ahead the scriptures this week: Revelation 21:10, 22-27, 22:1-5 and John 14:23-29.
